Greetings loyal readers and fellow maremmas. Yesterday sister came home from school with two of her friends, who are staying the weekend. Me and Nellie were so excited when they arrived. We were so good and Nellie didn’t even bark at them. We greeted them as good maremmas and in return We got lots of pats and hugs. It is fitting and proper and Me and Nellie are given the love we so richly deserve. After dinner they settled themselves down for the evening in the living room and Me and Nellie joined them, watching movies and eating snacks.
In the evenings Me and Nellie hear flocks of noisy birds flying overhead. Mummy says that they are sulphur crested cockatoo. They were introduced into the Mangamahu valley many years ago in the 1920’s. It is said that there was a chinese cook working in one of the big farms, further up the valley and he had two of them in a cage. After getting into an argument with one of the farm workers they were let the birds out and have happily settled in the valley. Off Me and Nellie go. It is time for our mid afternoon snooze. This will prepare Us for our early evening nap. Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestest maremmas in the land.
PS the above photo of the sulphur crested cockatoo is not one of mummy’s photo’s. She found it on a place called google.
