Shame on you mother.

Shame on you mother!

Poem by Judith Viorst (1931–)

Mother doesn’t want a dog.

Mother says they smell,

And never sit when you say sit,

Or even when you yell.

And when you come home late at night

And there is ice and snow,

You have to go back out because

The dumb dog has to go.

Mother doesn’t want a dog.

Mother says they shed,

And always let the strangers in

And bark at friends instead,

And do disgraceful things on rugs,

And track mud on the floor,

And flop upon your bed at night

And snore their doggy snore.

Mother doesn’t want a dog.

She’s making a mistake.

Because, more than a dog,

I think She will not want this snake.

Do you like this poem?.  Mummy found it on the following blog and thought it was very clever. http://kittyandpuppytails.com/

We don’t have snakes in New Zealand, thank goodness.  Me and Nellie would not like to met one. Mummy says they could bit Us.  Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestst maremmas in the land.

  4. HAHAHAHA! Me and my Mum both love this – Mum and Dad both have a lot of poetry published and Mum thought this was especially funny. 🙂

Mum says there were all sorts of snakes where she used to live, but only the adders had to be avoided. She told me her cat picked an adder up once, and took it into the house for her kittens to play with! Luckily for the kittens, they sensibly kept well away!

    Love the photos!

    Big WOOFS from Solo 🙂

  5. Love it – great find Nellie and Jasper! I would love to live somewhere where there were no snakes, although we don’t see any as we live within 6km of Melbourne City! But I know they’re out there!!

I do not like that poem, sounds like that mother is mean to dogs! You two are beautiful though, nice of you to help with the dishes!
