Spring lamb

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Ages ago, back in April I mentioned that the neighbour’s boy sheep called Romeo had come to visit our sheep and there may be some lambs in the spring time. https://jaspersdoggyworld.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/spring-lamb/

See the little lamb with it's mummy.

See the little lamb with it’s mummy.

Well, last night brother went out to move the sheep into the yards, so they can be drenched in the morning and he saw a lamb.  One lamb.  Mummy was so excited.  She does realise that one lamb in not much compared to the 30,000 sheep that live on one of the farms further up the valley, but “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and this could be the start of something great.  Me and Nellie have been told in no uncertain terms that We are to stay well away from the little lambie. Sister will be excited as she has always wanted a lamb.

On a sadder note, here is a photo of mummy’s beans that have been hard hit by that naughty boy – Jack Frost.

Poor beans

But on a happier note, here is a photo of some of mummy’s roses.  She likes to take them to work at the museum.  Love Nellie and Jasper, who may have been bad maremmas because We have gone walkabout again.

Such pretty roses.

Such pretty roses.

I bet Jack Frost doesn’t get scolded the way you would if you destroyed those plants. Unfair treatment, I say.

that lamb is sooooooooooooo precious! How lucky you are to live in a place where you can see something as wondrous as that! Your roses are exquisite as well! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

    • Thank you. Mummy like roses, but boy you should hear her moan come mid-winter when the roses should be pruned. She says she is not very good at pruning roses, so she tends not to do it. The roses don’t seem to mind.

That lamb looks like a cute little stuffie… I’d stay away from her though… I’d heard scary stories about angry mumma sheep!

  4. Beautiful roses, poor poor beans and congrats on the new lamb, how exciting.
