Flying over….

Not a photo of the one that flew over but a similar one.

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas. Today mummy, Me and Nellie were all out in the house garden.  Mummy was busy preparing a garden bed so that soon she can plant some cauliflower and broccoli there and Me and Nellie were supervising her.  Suddenly she could hear a strange noise in the sky. Initially she thought it was a top-dressing plane, but it is not the time of the year for the local farmers to be putting fertilizers on their paddocks.  The she realised the noise  was a helicopter and when it came into sight she recognised what it was.  It was the police helicopter.  Once or twice in the summer it flies over the sunny Mangamahu valley looking for illicit plantations. Last year when it flew over, there was a man with a camera taking photos of Me and Nellie, but this year he was not there.  You will be glad to read loyal readers that Me and Nellie chased it away with our loud  barking.    Love Nellie and Jasper, two very hot maremmas after all the exercise.  It must be time for our early afternoon snooze, if only mummy was sensible and stayed inside when it was hot instead of insisting on being out in the garden and Us having to keep an eye on her.

You guard dog types have it rough, I just have to hunt small critters now and then, my Kuvasz sis handles the protection stuff. Stay cool and glad the police were not looking for you two for some bad mischief 😉

  2. Kyla says:

Illicit plantations? Ah yes, the war on plants.

  3. You are SO brave to chase that evil helicopter away. Once I saw a blimp fly over my house and I was very afraid. Now I am afraid of pretty much everything in the sky – planes, helicopters, and sometimes clouds and birds. Also street signs, ladders, box fans, and more things than I can count in and out of the sky! Happy gardening!!

    Love and licks,

  8. Did someone steal our Blogville helecopter? Maybe we should report it to Officer Sidebites.

That is how Lexie feels every hot summer. Someone has to be outside with Mom to watch over her all the time. Sometimes she sends Mica out, but usually you can see her in the shade watching. She wishes I would go inside where it’s cool too;)

  11. Oh well done you brave things you – chasing off a big, noisy helicopter like that. it was obviously very frightened of you 😀

  12. robynwp says:

Hmmm if it were up to our dad cauliflower & broccoli would be considered illicit *BOL* – he and mom are always arguing about him not liking vegetables.

    Good job on the snoopervision.
