Greetings loyal readers and fellow maremmas. Growing all over the back of the deck is a grape-vine. Mummy says it has been growing there for a long time and given the long, hot summer we have been experiencing in New Zealand, the grape-vine has gone into overdrive. Now, Me and Nellie are not interested in eating grapes and anyway mummy says that they are bad for little doggie woggies. Something about potential to damage our kidney function. So, while We are not interested in eating grapes ourselves, We are very interested in what eats the grapes. There are often fantails and other birds there, feasting on the dark purple grapes, but last night there was something much more interesting eating grapes. It was a rather large rat and as you can see from the photos, I was most interested in its activities. I spent a lot of time running around the deck, pointing at where the rat had got to. Aren’t I such a clever dog letting my family know where the rat was. For some reason they were not that interested and were more focused on eating their dinner. Daddy did mutter something about coming out later on and “dealing to it”, whatever that means. Needless to say the rat and long disappeared before daddy got around to doing anything. Love Nellie and Jasper, who keep hearing these strange words – “Car ride”. Here are some more photos of Me and the grape-vine.
