Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Mummy has been busy at the Museum and today is her first day off in nearly a week, so she has been busy doing something called “housework”.  She says she would have lots less to do if Me and Nellie did not insist on coming inside with muddy paws and shedding snowy white fur all over the furnishings.

As loyal readers know, it is coming into autumn here in New Zealand and mummy has been busy gathering  up some of the produce she has grown in the garden. She picked the first of her super  hot chillies, so she can dry them and daddy can use chillies for cooking in the winter months.  009

Mummy found this interesting blog about the use of maremmas for protecting farm stock in America.  http://jimcoda.wordpress.com/2013/03/26/lamb-petaluma-california/

Here is a photo of Farmer Austin moving his sheep from the farm down the road called Okirae.001

He also grows chilies and dehydrates them He does habaneros and scotch bonnets although the last time it was serranos because someone gave them to Him because they were way too hot. He dehydrates outside because She wants to continue living in the house instead of being chillied out. I must admit, you can’t take a deep breath with them being dehydrated.

I want to come and herd those sheep! Barks and licks and love, Dakota

  5. Very orderly sheep, keeping to their side of the road – cows over here just take up the whole road, even our barking does not bother them. They must know we are freeloaders and not working dogs. High five paws – Honey and Nutty

  6. Sage says:

Mom likes the looks of those chilis. Me? Not so much. But those sheepers are just the ticket for a herder like me!

  7. Zena says:

Just keep away from the chillies! They are not dog-friendly 🙂

  8. I like Apple jelly …. maybe we can use some chillies too ? :o)

  9. Yum! Looks delicious. We love the pictures.
