Pumpkin eating cows

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  As you all know mummy participated in the Great Mangamahu Pumpkin growing competition.  Unfortunately, she was not able to attend the prize giving afternoon tea because she had to work.  She says she was not that concerned as she didn’t think her pumpkins grew to their full potential.  Not for the want of feeding and watering.  She says there is always next year.  Instead of the pumpkins going to waste they are gradually being feed to Maise and Oscar, our two cows.  Funny, Bubba and Forest have never come home from their holiday at Farmer Rae’s orchard.  Maybe they like living there better than Chez Jasper.

Early this morning, mummy, daddy and sister all left to go to Palmerston North because sister was participating in another triathlon.  The boyfriend came to.  Sister was very pleased because she took 7 minutes off her previous best time.  Me and Nellie do not like the sound of all this activity.  It sounds like it could interfere with our snoozing time.   Love Nellie and Jasper.  It is time for our pre-dinner nap.

Who is the handsome dude. Why Me, of course. I am much better looking than the boyfriend.

Wowie! You’re sister must be fit!

  2. Well, Jasper, between cows eating pumpkins, triathlons, and the boyfriend, your house sounds pretty busy. You should come here for your nap. The boyfriend is nothing but sweet (and always shares his food), Mom only walks – never runs or rides a bike, and she can barely grow an herb garden without murdering the poor herbs in cold blood.

    Love and licks,

You two could be great runners, my sister was an excellent runner! She did not like running all that much but she was really good at it when she ran with mom!

  4. The cows are very pretty, good job sister and hope you like your snooze, have a great day.

Triathalon is too much activity. Better to be a cow and chow down.

Oh Jasper, how you brighten my day with your canine perceptions and descriptions of a world far away from Montclair, NJ.

  9. Vito, our Maremma, born April 16, the day Ben, our first Maremma, had to be euthanased at age 13, and Tamsin, our beautiful Golden Retriver, both have their birthdays tomorrow. Vito turns 1 and Tamsin 10. They send licks to all dogs, especially Maremmas and Golden Retievers. When able, their parents will send all, pictures of the smartest, best looking and best behaved dogs in the land!!!!!!!!!!! (Chewing and chasing all sorts of things and burying bones doesn’t count for pups)!!!!!!!!!!!

I like the idea of running – I do lots of it, checking the territory. Honey much prefers a quiet corner on a bed (until she hears the dinner dishes being filled). High five paws – Nutty (and Honey, but she’s asleep 🙂 ).

I’m glad that your two cows like pumpkins otherwise they might be cooked up and given to you! Yuck! Veggies. I know some of our pals like vegies, but I’m not one of them.
By the way, a little tip from me. I have a bad feeling about Farmer Rae’s orchard – make sure you don’t go!!

  13. Congrats to your sister. Bet all eyes were on you though!
