Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.   Now, Me and Nellie don’t want you all to worried about Us, should you be reading anything about good, old New Zealand and an earthquake.  Mummy was telling Us that she was at work this morning, when she felt the building start to move.  Being an ex-Wellingtonian, who are used to earthquakes, she didn’t really worry about it, but she thought she’d check it out at the following http://www.geonet.org.nz/quakes/region/wellington/2013p537512

As you can see, loyal readers Me and Nellie are not at all concerned about the earth moving.  We are more concerned about and interested in when We will be getting our morning dinner.   Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestest maremmas in all the land.

See Nellie on the couch. Mummy was so surprised when Nellie got of the couch next to her that she didn't even yell at her.

  1. You two have your priorities in order. Morning dinner, sitting on the couch, and fun stuff in the mail are the things that matter.

My Mom was born in San Francisco and They both went through a lot of earthquakes (including being in Candlestick Park for the 1989 World Series baseball game that had the quake happen a bit before the game was supposed to start) the whole country and world saw it. I guess San Francisco needs a good shaking once every 100 years. The previous one was in 1906. After the ’89 quake, the Series resumed and it was very emotional-it was a magical moment to be in the park. The tragedy is the deaths, but they’re learning to compensate with construction for quakes so the damage will be small. Yours was a 5.7 and that’s a minor one in California. That was a 6.9 and it’s s logarithmic scale-a 6.0 is 10 times worse than a 5.0 and a 7.0 is ten times worse than a 6.0. The really bad guys are the ones that happen where nobody thinks they will. It turns out that the mid-point of the US has quakes and can have a big one also. Congrats on being safe.

Wow, you guys are calm. We’ve never had an earthquake, Australia doesn’t get many and when they do happen they are very tiny!
