A broken window

Broken window in mummy and daddy's bedroom.

Broken window in mummy and daddy’s bedroom.

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Today mummy was at work and daddy was in Wellington and it was just Me and Nellie, brother and sister at home.  It was a fine sunny Mangamahu day and nothing must was happening at Chez Jasper, when all of a sudden there was a loud bang and the sound of glass shattering. Brother and sister and Me and Nellie rushed to the source of the sound.  It would appear that a native wood pigeon aka kereru had collided with a window and had shattered the glass.  Unfortunately the kereru did not survive the impact. We were all very sad that the wood pigeon died.  Collision with house windows are an acknowledged threat to kereru.

Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestest maremmas in all the land. R.I.P kereu.

  1. Oh no! We are so sorry to hear about the kereu and your window. Lady’s Nana believe a bird crashing into your window was telling you something bad is coming. We hope that what it is telling you, is you need a new window. Lee and Phod

  2. Horrid when that happens poor little thing.
    Have a super Saturday.
    Best wishes Molly

  3. How sad for the birdie. It’s lucky nobody was near the window or stepped on the broken glass. Yikes!

Oh no RIP Kereu..we use to have the same problem with King Parrots…poor things very sad 😦

  8. That’s sad for the pigeon. We have a window on the back side of my crib where some birdies had a crash landing too. Mom used window stickers to protect the birds, it worked, but now we can’t remove the stickers maybe someone welded them on.

  9. Misaki says:

    Oh that’s really sad:-(

  10. Oh, my. One muscled up bird. We have doves who get scared by hawks sometimes and fling themselves against windows in their panic, but most just shake their heads and jump into the bush. That must have been scary

  11. oh no the poor birdie, thank goodness you weren’t hurt by the glass and thank goodness SOD didn’t break the window!
