Shopping around the world

frugalGreeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Well, it is the time of the month to participate in Bacon and Fozzie‘s shopping around the world.   Here in Aotearoa (Maori name for New Zealand, meaning Land of  the long white cloud) we are the first country in the world to begin each new day.  So, while it is Tuesday in the USA, it is Wednesday here in the sunny Mangamahu valley.   So, off mummy went to the supermarket and came home with prices.  As mummy and daddy are very cheap economical people, they shop at the cut-price supermarket called Pak ‘n Save, even so mummy suspect that other people might find that our food prices expensive.

kiwi wc

Toilet paper.  A packet of 12 rolls costs NZ$3.98. (US$3.38)

minceA kilo (2.2 pounds) of beef mince, on special costs NZ$8.98 (US$7.64)  Mummy and daddy don’t buy much meat since mummy has been on her anti-whale regime.  Also, they have freezers full of “home kill”, whatever that means.

momma pizzaA Mama pizza cost NZ$4.79. (US$4.08)

frankfurter

Mummy couldn’t find any hotdogs but she found some frankfurters, which she thinks are similar.  A kilo of frankfurters costs NZ$9.98 (US$8.49)

bacon

Close your eyes and ears Bacon.  800g (1.7 pounds) of middle bacon costs NZ$8.40 (US$7.14)

Love from Jasper and Nellie, the two bestest maremmas in all the land.

WOW – Awesome posting my friend. I’m glad to see that prices are HIGH every where in the world right now. We were thinking that the meat prices were just astronomical here in the States. Thanks so much!! XOXO – Bacon

  2. Emmadog says:

The price of bacon is a crime where you live!

  3. Bacon at any price is worth it!

No where to run, nowhere to hide.

  5. Your prices aren’t much different than the prices here where I live.

  6. We’re thinking we might be able to afford living in Aotearoa, our prices aren’t too far off from each other.

I think those are pretty good Nellie and Jasper…the land of the long white cloud may be a great place to live….thanks for coming shopping with Bacon and I and have a great day 🙂 hugs Fozxiemum x

  8. I like your TP, the Kiwi looks cool… even when his beak is like a sword.. hope that has no influence on the TP :o) We mostly buy the basic food at a discounter and only the special things at a “common” supermarket, that saves some wonga and my mom can buy more pink clothes for my daddy :o)
