Shopping around the World.

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Well, it is time for Shopping around the World, brought to you by Bacon and Fozzie

Sorry it is a bit late, but mummy didn’t go into town yesterday and when she went today, she forgot the shopping list so had to rely on her bad memory.  Now, as you know mummy and daddy are rather cheap frugal, so they shop at the cheapest supermarket in town.  So, don’t be shocked at the prices because they are the lowest prices around.

waterHere in the countryside, we rely on rain water and very rarely buy bottled water. A six-pack of 400ml (mummy tried to convert this to imperial measurement but it was beyond her ken even with the aid of Mr Google) costs NZ$5.98 (US$5.02)

luxA four pack of Lux soap costs NZ$3.48 (US$2.92)

dove1Dove deodorant costs NZ$3.98 (US$3.34)

cold powerOn special.  3 x 500 grammes (1.1 pound) costs NZ$5.00 (US$4.20)

And for our selected items.  Mummy thought she’d pick out two locally sourced items.

w kiwifruitKiwifruit costs NZ$1.00 per kilo (2.2 pounds)

silverbeetA large bunch of silverbeet costs NZ$1.68 (US$1.41)

  1. Think I come to your place, your prices are great. Specially the ldetergent looks interesting. does it really work even with cold water?

    • Mummy says it seems to get brother’s dirty rugby gear clean as well as the boyfriend’s woodchopping gear. Why is mummy doing the boyfriend’s washing you might ask yourself. Who knows.

  2. Our Oumie LOVES kiwi fruit! Thanks for the price comparisons 🙂

  3. Whee got all confused for a moment then, think your stuff was quite expensive for some of them and cheep for the others. Then our Mummy explained about different currency. Is that just put there to confuse us piggies??

  7. Oh, Kiwi were on sale last week and we bought bunches – or at least 5. yummy! (but cost more even on sale here)
With tropical storm clouds and a long weekend holiday coming up, bottled water is on sale. (24 – 16.9 oz bottles for about $3.50)
We used to alway use LUX soap! How nice it is to see it! That seems like a pretty good price.
Corn on the cob is on sale: 6 for $1.00 which sounds good, but it’s usually 10 for that.
Mangos are 50 cents – and need those for salsa!
Food prices are high right now at local grocery stores. We make trips to town and the big COSCO warehouse store every few weeks and buy nonperishable stuff cheaper there
    Paw waves!

  8. That is some good shopping!
