Now as you all know, it is the beginning of spring here in sunny New Zealand and two of the item on the shopping list were not available at the
cheap budget supermarket, mummy and daddy shop at.
First on the list were apples. At the supermarket Pink apples were on special at NZ38c (US30c) per kilo (2.2 pounds) Mummy thought that was really cheap, however, we grow our apples.
Strawberries are out of season and were not in stock at the supermarket.
Carrots were NZ$2.28 (US$1.82) per kilo. Carrots are grown in Ohakune which is the carrot capital of New Zealand. http://www.ohakune.info/whyohakune/carrot-capital.php
Lettuces were NZ$1.98 each. (US$1.58)
Our random fruit is pineapple which were NZ$3.98 each. (US$3.17)
Our random vegetable is red kumera. Kumera is a sweet potato cultivated by Maori in New Zealand. It costs NZ$2.78 per kilo. (US$2.21).
We look forward to next month’s Shopping around the World. Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestest maremmas in all the land.
