Shopping Around the World

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Well, it has rolled around again, time for Shopping around the World, brought to you by our friends: Bacon and Fozzie

Now as you all know, it is the beginning of spring here in sunny New Zealand and two of the item on the shopping list were not available at the cheap budget supermarket, mummy and daddy shop at.

First on the list were apples.  At the supermarket Pink apples were on special at NZ38c (US30c) per kilo (2.2 pounds)  Mummy thought that was really cheap, however, we grow our apples.

Oh my friend! Carrot capital of the world!? AND you grow your own apples?! I’m so coming to live with ya’ll. I’m off to pack my bags now. XOXO – Bacon

  2. Move over PigLove – growing apples? Much too warm for them to grow here. In the stores they cost from $1.99 to $2.98 lbs. depending on the kind. We eat one a day. All types of lettuce are much more expensive. Some grow leaf lettuce in gardens in the spring, but I’ve not had much luck with it…or we eat it faster than it can grow! (And back then one of our dogs, a Westie, would sneak out and munch it.) Local green beans are about $1.99.
The Kumera looks interesting…wonder if they are ever found around here – will have to look!
    Paw waves!

NO GREEN BEANS???? If I visited, I’d have to bring my own supply.
