The Peony Tree

The Peony Tree

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas. Now as you all know mummy has a rather large garden to look after and she is always after new plants to add to her garden.  Ages ago, BJ (Before Jasper) mummy’s friend was given a peony tree by her late mother-in-law.  The plant was reputed to come from an old garden near Feilding, in the Manawatu.  Mummy’s friend planted it in her garden but unfortunately it took umbrage to the Kaori clay soil and failed to thrive.  So the friend potted the tree up and gave it to mummy.  Well, it sat in a pot on the front veranda for years ages until mummy found a suitable position for it in the garden.   After a few years in the new place, the tree has started to bloom this spring.  Mummy thinks it is a very pretty plant, as you would all agree.

Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestest maremmas in all the land.

We have never heard of a peony tree, but it is beautiful. Those bright colors are just the thing to bring out your maremma beauty!

    Love and licks,

  2. Very pretty! Nothing’s better than a plant that has been given to a good home. Looks like it’s pleased where it ended up.
