Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas. Now as you all know it is summer here in the sunny Mangamahu valley. The sounds of summer here are not the chirping of cicadas calling for mates, but rather the sound of these:It would seem that once Christmas has past, the thoughts of the residents of the valley turn to winter and the need for firewood. Everyday, there is a chainsaw being used somewhere within our hearing.
Mummy and daddy have been out loading the trailer with wood from the downed silver birches. Daddy thinks there should get at least seven trailer loads of wood from these trees.
Me and Nellie are rather concerned for We have heard talk that family might be leaving Us this weekend. They have to go to A-uck-land to take sister to uni-ver-sity. Me and Nellie do not know of this A-uck-land place, but mummy says it is a very big place and We would not like it. Too much traffic and people and not enough tasty treats for Us.
Off Me and Nellie go. It is almost time for our morning dinner and We must be prepared. Love Nellie and Jasper, the two bestest maremmas in all the land.
