See Me pointing at the dangerous ‘possum

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  Now as you all know We three live in the countryside.  In the countryside there lives all sorts of night-time creatures.  One of the is the ‘possum. ‘Possums were introduced into New Zealand in 1837 and now are considered a noxious pest causing millions of dollars in damage to fruit trees.  Not the mention the damage done to native trees and plants.

On evening while out on my evening patrol, what should I spy in one of the apple trees, but a wily ‘possum.  With my eagle maremma eye, I was able to spot it immediately.  Unfortunately, only mummy was home and as much as she tried she could not see the evil ‘possum.

See even mummy could see the 'possum.

See even mummy could see the ‘possum. But she couldn’t

And where was Itai, while Me and Nellie were outside?  He was sensible and inside in front of the fire. Love Nellie, Jasper and Itai, the three bestest maremmas in all the land.

  7. your country is beautiful… and I think it is the right place for me&daddy and my snake-o-phobish mom :o) I’m ready to hunt possums with you and rabbits… :o)

  8. Mom says thanks for including the link to “possum.” As Americans, we immediately thought of the ugly, pointy faced, hairless tail, nocturnal opossums that live around here. There are always dead ones along the sides of the road. The article says they are totally different species. Yours are cute, even though they are destructful and much worse than our squirrels. Good luck on catching one, but please be careful!

  9. Two French Bulldogs says:

    Good find friends
    Lily & Edward

  10. We did not want to mention this on FB but when our mom was a teenager she would run over them all the time with the car. NOT on purpose but they would come into the road at night. That kinda says something about mom’s driving too.
