Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas. What has been happening here in New Zealand since the 7.5 earthquake yesterday morning:
• Aftershocks have continued to rumble through the night. As of 7am, there had been 860 since the 7.5 Kaikoura earthquake, GeoNet says. (Geonet is the go-to website in New Zealand, as it records all the earthquakes we have and we have lots of earthquakes). https://www.geonet.org.nz/
• Heavy rain warning for Wellington with 50-60mm forecast for this morning and gale-force winds in exposed parts of the capital. Three key roads have been closed in the region by flooding, disrupting commuters. Wellington (New Zealand’s capital city) is now cuff off from the rest of the country, due to a weather bomb resulting in flooding and slips. As they say: “It never rains but it pours”.
Just for a comparison: “NZ is about the same size as Oregon. Auckland (New Zealand’s largest city) is about the same size as Portland. http://www.dejal.com/blog/2007/09/new-zealand-and-us-comparison
Mummy found some photos pf the earthquake damage to share with you. They all come from a place called Facebook.
And somewhere mummy walked past while she was in Wellington, over the weekend. Love the three bestest maremmas in all the land.
