Life in the Countryside

Means dealing with lots of Sh*t.

Greeting loyal readers and fellow maremmas.  As you all know, We live in the very sunny Mangamahu valley – a very long way from town.  Therefore, We are not on town sewage.  We have a septic tank to deal with our waste water.   Today a large truck appeared in our driveway.  It would appear that our septic tank needed to be emptied. So, how did mummy and daddy know this.  Well, it was the appearance of smelly water on our lawn that made them think maybe the tank needed emptying and the fact that we have been living here for 8 years and have never emptied the tank.  Two very good clues one would assume.

So, daddy and the man from Allens Spetic Tank Cleaning service spent a joyful couple of hours, finding the lid to the septic tank, digging it out, lifting the concrete lid, and pumping the sh*t waste out. Mummy, of course supervised and took photos and The three bestest maremmas in all the land were tied up, away from the action. Would you like to see some photos. Of course, you would.

Mummy and daddy were so thankful to the man from Allen’s.  He saved Us from a lawn full of sh*t, specially on the day of mummy’s birthday.  We will be back tomorrow for our summer Christmas holiday traditions.   Love Jasper, Nellie and Itai.

I’ve always heard that if you want job security, to go into the septic tank business. When you need them, it isn’t a job you want to do yourself. I’m glad you had a good experience. It looks like a LOT of work.

That looked like a lot of work. It makes me appreciate living in the suburbs.
Happy birthday Mummy! (Too bad that problem happened on your special day.) Oh, and Happy Christmas too!

    Allen stole your birthday present????
We’ve been on well and septic for almost 16 years with no maintenance. We also have no lawn to ruin because we’re in the desert.

  4. I do not typically approve of gorgeous, well-behaved maremmas being tied up away from the action. But in this case, I think it was brilliant! Happy birthday to your mom. I hope she enjoys a wonderful day and a sh*t-free lawn for the year ahead!

    Love and licks,

    Oh Crap!

  6. We have a septic tank too and our pawrents lived here (just the two of them) for 12 years without emptying it. Neither had ever lived with one and nobody told them about emptying it regularly. They found out because the washing machine wasn’t draining. It was a bit messy. Now it is done every few years.

  7. Happy birthday to your mum. And a joyous howliday to one and all.

  8. Ooohhhhh!!!! Stinky! Here’s hoping your holidays were free from a yard full of poop!
